What's this month's book?

CULTISH

Amanda Montell

What makes “cults” so intriguing and frightening? What makes them powerful? The reason why so many of us binge Manson documentaries by the dozen and fall down rabbit holes researching suburban moms gone QAnon is because we’re looking for a satisfying explanation for what causes people to join—and more importantly, stay in—extreme groups.

We secretly want to know: could it happen to me? Amanda Montell’s argument is that, on some level, it already has . . .

Next Month's Book

How to Do Nothing: Resisting the Attention Economy

A galvanizing critique of the forces vying for our attention - and our personal information - that redefines what we think of as productivity, reconnects us with the environment, and reveals all that we've been too distracted to see about ourselves and our world.

Where is it?

Sudhouse

We have a private floor reserved just for the club, so it's a great place to grab a cheap drink, a bite of something fried, and get lost in discussion.

FAQs

Each month, in addition to chatting about what we read, we also compete in trivia about the book.

We've found this is a great way to retain what we read, but also it's a great motivator to actually read the book.

There will be! Check back later to see what it is!

The Sudhouse Website has the most up to date menu.

Their happy hour runs until 8PM EST, so be sure to show up on time.

Nope ✨

Life is hard. We’re busy people. Sometimes it feels like everything is crumbling around us, so who has the time to read a book? What does any of this matter?

With that being said, you’re still welcome to join in the meeting and participate even if you didn’t read the book. You might just not be good at the trivia :)

The book club is completely free! That being said, it does cost money to run. So, any donations are appreciated at the event.

Our goal is to make this a monthly thing!

Hey! I would love to hear from you! You can email me at patkalie@gmail.com.
