The Thrown Gauntlet: A Tournament of Duels
Developed by:
Tony Huang (Black Tigers),Quoc Lieu (Bold City Longsword), and Will Landis/John Knoch (Crossroads Swords)
Description:
Are you tired of having to be “patient” and “wait your turn” at a tournament? Well, great news! At this all-day event, we’ve come up with a plan to net you as many fights as possible. You’ll be able to choose your own opponents and weapon sets, and fight as hard and as often as you want! At midday, we’ll hold finals for the top-scoring fighters. After that, it’s right back to fencing, because at the end of the day, further prizes will be awarded based on overall stats, including prizes for the combatant with the highest number of fights, best K/D ratio, and more.
Note: we are currently allowing mixed weapons, but fighters will be required to use an armor standard appropriate for their opponent. We release information on these guidelines, but, for example, it may mean that you can’t have that longsword vs smallsword match you’ve dreamt of, if you can’t operate your smallsword with longsword-safe gear requirements.
Note 2: Lightsaber will be allowed! Lightsaber cannot mix with steel, so anyone participating in lightsaber fights will have to be kitted to TSL standards. Matches will follow TSL scoring rules, but with the point totals/time limits of the tournament format. Because of gear requirement issues, Lightsaber will not be an option for finals.

Workshop: Be the Multi-Tool I Believe You Can Be!
Developed by:
Tony Huang (Black Tigers)
Description:
Have you been in a situation where you wanted to sign up for an event that you have never trained for? You found yourself in a situation where you were lucky enough to compete with a borrowed sword? In the spirit of this event, we are going to be exploring ways to use and learn different weapons more efficiently. This workshop is going to work on your personal foundations and understanding your options outside your comfort zone. Once we have a better foundation, we can start looking at how to apply your strengths to unfamiliar situations.
This workshop requires masks, gloves, and swords (any really) you do not mind sharing. If you have something weird or handles like a clunker, please bring it.
Path to the Elite Four: A Pokemon-Style Team Relay
Developed by:
Tony Huang (Black Tigers), Will Landis (Crossroads Swords)
Description:
You want to be the very best? Then assemble your team of four — three fighters, one trainer, rotated each match— and get ready to face-off against your rivals. Trainers will send their “starter” fighters into the ring, then strategically choose which fighter to match which opponent, but be careful: switch-outs are limited. Keep your HP high, because after too many hits, fighters will “faint” dramatically, and a teammate will take their place. Plus, matches in the team tournament will count towards your overall stats for the duels tournament! When all of your rival’s fighter’s have fainted, you’ll be one badge closer to greatness!
Note:
For this event, all fighters will need to use roughly the same protective gear level, so we are limiting weapons to steel "singlehand +". A fighter's main weapon can be a standard single-hand weapon like rapier, sidesword, sabre, dussack, broadsword, dagger, etc., and their off hand weapon can be dual wield, a parrying dagger, buckler, shield, cloak, etc..
Longswords, smallswords, polearms, and other two-handed/very lightweight weapons will not be allowed.
